Reverie

This installation stems from my body of work titled The Intimacy Between Me and My Imagination, with a specific focus on tree bark. I depicted tree bark from around the world that I found texturally fascinating first in a glazed ceramic tree hollow. The middle of the ceramic piece was left unglazed where I oil painted my self-representing genderless character interacting with animals native to the same general region as the trees. The ceramic tree hollows are then hung on a wooden panel cut with a laser cutter and painted with oils to complement the textures of the glazed ceramic. The width of each piece corresponds to the average diameter of the tree they are representing. The five pieces are then installed as a forest of my imagination.
